Therapy Services Provided

Individual Therapy

In individual therapy, we’ll explore your personal history, including your family background and any past traumatic experiences (if applicable), to understand the current concerns you are facing in life or in your relationships. This understanding helps us create a tailored treatment plan.

You can expect to be treated as a person, not a clinical case. My approach is warm, personable, and collaborative. I aim to make the therapeutic space comfortable—where we can even share a laugh. I avoid a rigid, textbook approach in favor of something more human and engaging.

Couples Therapy

You can expect me to be an advocate for both parties. My job Is not to break up a couple or to force them to remain together. I work with both individuals to understand the difficulties within the relationship and to help guide a supportive path forward.

Treatment Specialties

Trauma

Trauma is the experience of one distressing event or a series of distressing or disturbing events. When Trauma is experienced, it has longstanding affect on our nervous system, our emotions, thoughts/beliefs, and behaviours. Trauma is not exclusive to those who serve in the military or those who have been assaulted in some manner.

Grief & Loss

Grief refers specifically to the process of recovering from the death of someone or some living thing. There are various stages of mourning after, and the accompanying sense of grief and loss might come with a range of different emotions such as anger, sadness, anxiety and guilt. The process of adapting to a significant loss can vary dramatically from one person to another.

Sexual Abuse

Sexual abuse is a profound violation that can leave deep emotional scars. It involves any non-consensual act or behavior, which can significantly impact a person's sense of safety, trust, and self-worth. If you or someone you know has experienced sexual abuse, it's important to know that healing is possible. In therapy, we explore ways to reclaim your voice and strength, working through the complex emotions and traumas in a safe, supportive environment.

Emotional Abuse

Emotional abuse, though often less visible than other forms of abuse, can deeply affect your mental and emotional health. It involves manipulative behaviors that erode self-esteem, instill fear, and create a sense of worthlessness. If you're experiencing emotional abuse, it's important to recognize that it's not your fault and help is available.

Anxiety

Anxiety is familiar to everyone at some point in our lives. It is usually a normal, useful and effective response in times of coping with stress, and something that can be understood and managed. However, some people experience intense and prolonged periods of anxiety and that, if left untreated, can develop into a debilitating anxiety disorder.

Depression

Everyone can feel upset or sad from time-to-time, however, when these feelings are persistent, overwhelming or are affecting your ability to function on a daily basis, it may be that you are experiencing Depression. Depression is a serious mental health condition. It is not a sign of weakness or something that you can just “snap out of”.

Stress Management

Small doses of stress and anxiety are inevitably experienced in our daily lives. However stress becomes problematic and damaging when it is prolonged. Stress can be acute, which is short-term in nature and it comes and goes quickly. Stress can be episodic tends to be experienced on a regular basis. Stress can also be chronic...

Compassion Fatigue and Burnout

In our fast-paced world filled with competing demands, many are susceptible to burnout and compassion fatigue, both personally and professionally. Burnout describes exhaustion and a lack of motivation or disinterest in one’s role, while compassion fatigue refers to the vicarious trauma and negative emotions that can arise from providing help to others.

commonly Asked questions

Therapy is a collaborative process tailored to your individual needs. It begins with an assessment where we discuss your concerns and objectives. Together, we’ll identify patterns, behaviors, or emotional challenges that you want to address. Using evidence-based techniques, we’ll work through these issues in a safe, supportive environment. Over time, therapy can help you gain insight into your thoughts and behaviors, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and empower you to make positive changes in your life.

Therapy can be beneficial for anyone who feels they need support managing emotions, behaviors, or life situations. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just need someone to talk to, it might be a good time to consider therapy.

I offer a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), and other trauma-informed techniques. Depending on your individual needs, we can tailor the therapy method that best suits you.

Each therapy session typically lasts 60 minutes. However, this can vary depending on the specific needs of the session.

The frequency of therapy sessions varies depending on your individual needs and the goals we set together. Initially, weekly sessions are common as they help build momentum and foster a therapeutic relationship. Over time, as you start to experience progress, we might reduce the frequency to biweekly or monthly. We will regularly assess and adjust the frequency of sessions to best support your journey towards wellness.

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of therapy. Everything discussed in sessions is kept confidential except in cases where disclosure is required by law (e.g., threats of harm).

My standard fee for a 60-minute individual or couples therapy session is $220.00. For other types of sessions, such as longer sessions, fees may differ.

In Alberta, therapy costs aren’t strictly regulated; instead, the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (PAA) provides recommended rates as a helpful guideline. This allows individual psychologists and therapy clinics, like mine, to set fees based on their unique experience, specialties, location, and the clients they serve.

I strive to keep my rates very reasonable and in-line with these suggested rates, ensuring that quality support is accessible to those who need it.

Many extended health benefits and employee assistance programs (EAPs) may cover some or all of the cost of therapy sessions.
